Admission requirements for the degree program Plastics Engineering (M.Sc.)

Admission requirement for the Master's degree course in Plastics Engineering is a qualified Bachelor's degree with at least 180 CP and a grade ofat least "good" (2.5) in the field of plastics engineering or another mathematical, scientific or technical field related to plastics engineering and a sufficient proportion of subjects from the field of plastics engineering with a grade of at least "good", the suitability of which is recognized by the examination board.
Other aspects beneficial to the study of plastics engineering (e.g. practical work in the plastics industry, exceptional achievements and/or special commitment to the self-administration of the university during the first degree course, semesters abroad, etc.) may be taken into account. Another university degree can also be recognized by the examination board as an admission requirement. In particular, the degree "Diplom-Ingenieur (FH) in the field of plastics technology" is considered a recognized degree within the meaning of this regulation.
Case-by-case assessment
A case-by-case assessment is carried out taking into account the degree of qualifications to be made up for. These regulations are without prejudice to the options under Section 6 (3) BBPO.
Recognition of academic achievements
The recognition of credits and proven competencies is carried out in accordance with the recognition statutes of Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences.

Further admission requirements according to §6 para. 2 BBPO
In accordance with Section 6 (2) BBPO, further admission requirements may be defined by the Examination Board. In particular, participation in and successful completion of preparatory courses may be imposed.
In accordance with § 6 Para. 2 BBPO, the Examination Board defined additional criteria in its meeting on May 2, 2013, on the degree of fulfillment of which success in the Master's degree program depends.
In addition to a grade of at least 2.5, the following qualifications must be proven before admission:

Plastics processing | at least 15 CP |
Materials science of plastics | at least 5 CP |
Thermodynamics | at least 10 CP |
Rheology and Fluid Mechanics | at least 7.5 CP |
Designing with plastics | at least 7.5 CP |
Plastics technology internship | at least 5 weeks |
