Entrance requirements

What we expect from you

It should not be news to you that an engineering degree course places high demands on students. Good comprehension skills, enthusiasm, perseverance, the ability to work in a team and a good command of English should be a matter of course for you.

For this course of study, we also expect a good dose of passion for the automobile.

Authorization

Admission to the Master's degree program requires a qualified Bachelor's degree in the fields of

  • mechanical engineering,
  • plastics engineering
  • mechatronics,
  • process engineering

with an overall grade of at least "good" (2.5) is required. The Examination Board may also recognize other university degrees that are deemed equivalent as admission requirements.
In particular, the degree "Diplom-Ingenieur" (university / university of applied sciences) in the field of general mechanical engineering or another mathematical, scientific or technical field related to general mechanical engineering and a sufficient proportion of subjects from the field of general mechanical engineering is considered a recognizable degree.

In justified cases, participation in and successful completion of preparatory courses may be imposed.

If a student holds a "Diplom-Ingenieur" degree (university or university of applied sciences) in the above-mentioned fields, individual modules or courses of the Master's degree course may be recognized upon application in accordance with §19 ABPO, provided that the scientific requirements of the Master's degree course are met. The Examination Board will decide on the application on a case-by-case basis.

Case-by-case assessment

In the course of admission, an individual assessment and recognition of prior achievements takes place. If you have any questions, please contact the Chair of the Examination Board. These regulations are without prejudice to the possibilities according to §6 para. 3 BBPO.

Further admission requirements according to §6 para. 2 BBPO

In accordance with Section 6 (2) BBPO, further admission requirements may be defined by the Examination Board. In particular, participation in and successful completion of preparatory courses may be imposed.

In accordance with § 6 Para. 2 BBPO, the Examination Board defined additional criteria at its meeting on 7.5.2013, on the fulfillment of which success in the Master's degree program depends.

In addition to a grade of at least 2.5, the following qualifications must be proven before admission:

Technical Mechanics at least 15 CP
Machine Elements at least 15 CP
Materials engineering at least 10 CP
Thermodynamics at least 7.5 CP
Control engineering at least 7.5 CP
Machine dynamics at least 7.5 CP

Recognition of academic achievements

The recognition of credits and proven competencies is carried out in accordance with the recognition statutes of Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences.
