Partnerships - utilizing synergies and conducting joint research

Our Department of Mechanical and Plastics Engineering is bursting with energy. Not only do we work closely and trustingly with numerous external partners outside Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences, but we also have particularly strong links with other players in the region.

For example, have you heard about our close cooperation with the renowned Fraunhofer Institute for Structural Durability and System Reliability (LBF)? Or of its plastics division, the former DKI (Deutsches Kunststoffinstitut), whose senior staff offer courses in the Master's degree in plastics technology and supervise theses?

A large number of companies from the region - from major international corporations to small and medium-sized enterprises - are associated with our department. We are in close contact with the Darmstadt Chamber of Industry and Commerce and work together to develop and promote regional industry. And we are not only strong in theory, but also really get down to work, which often results in partnerships in research projects. Our department is also a place for practical examinations, such as the "Plastics and Rubber Technologist" apprenticeship, and we are proud members of the German Plastics Museum as well as the Industrievereinigung Verstärkte Kunststoffe e. V. and AVK-TV GmbH, AVK for short, one of the supporting associations of the Gesamtverband der Kunststoffverarbeitenden Industrie, GKV.

We have long-standing collaborations with many industrial companies in the region in joint research and development projects, technology development and as part of practical work experience phases and final theses. We can't wait to tackle even more innovative projects and further strengthen our partnerships!
