The academic degree of Doctor of Sustainability Sciences (Dr. rer. sust.) can be obtained at the Doctoral Center for Sustainability Sciences. This title, which is unique in Germany, was created especially for the doctoral center. At the doctoral center, h_da researchers from the fields of civil and transportation engineering, electrical engineering, chemical and biotechnology, plastics technology and mechanical engineering work together with researchers from the social sciences, economics, humanities and communication sciences on an interdisciplinary basis. Sustainability engineering and sustainability natural sciences as well as sustainability social sciences and sustainability social sciences form the common foundation of the doctoral center. Research at the doctoral center focuses on processes and products that make innovative contributions to sustainable development. Transdisciplinary and interdisciplinary doctorates can be carried out in this context.
