The bodies of the Institute

The management

of the institute consists of the head of the institute and a deputy head. The head of the institute manages and administers the institute, implements the resolutions of the institute council, represents the institute within the university and convenes the meetings of the institute council. He or she decides on the use of the financial resources allocated to the Institute in agreement with the Institute Council and is responsible for the sensible deployment of academic staff and the appropriate use of equipment, facilities and rooms.

The institute's advisory board

has the task of advising the Institute on its development, articulating the expectations placed on the Institute in the business and professional world and in scientific research and promoting the use of scientific findings. It makes recommendations on the Institute's development planning and course planning and on the formation of focal points in research and teaching, on evaluation procedures, on target agreements and on knowledge and technology transfer. The institute's advisory board consists of six personalities from the fields of business and professional practice and from the field of scientific research in plastics technology. They work on an honorary basis. The advisory board meets annually with the institute management,

Financial and human resources

are assigned to the institute by the Dean's Office of the Department of Mechanical and Plastics Engineering. The basis for this is the structural plan of Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences. The department provides the institute with a basic budget. Within the framework of the third-party funds available to the Institute, the Institute Council decides on the expansion or reduction of resources. Third-party funded resources are allocated to the institute and are managed by it.

The Institute Council

consists of the members of the Institute. The Institute Council decides on all fundamental matters of the Institute, e.g. the handling of research and development matters and participation in interdisciplinary research projects. The Institute Council prepares and implements the decisions of the Faculty Council concerning the Institute. It concludes target agreements with the Dean's Office of the faculty. The Institute Council elects the managing directors of the Institute.

Members of the Institute

are the professors and employees of Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences who have been assigned to the Institute by resolution of the Dean's Office of the faculty or the Institute Council with confirmation from the Dean's Office. They have the right and the duty to contribute to the fulfillment of the Institute's tasks and to participate in its self-administration within the framework of this statute. All members of the Institute focus on teaching and research in the above-mentioned areas.
