OwenCorning presented the department with a model of a Formula 1 racing car produced using the pultrusion process with subsequent thermoforming as a souvenir (see photo).

Lecture on the series production of continuous fiber-reinforced thermoplastic components is well received

On January 24, Dr. Mesut Cetin, Product and Project Manager for Lightweight Design at KraussMaffei Automation, gave an insight into KraussMaffei's FiberForm technology at the IKD colloquium. The presentation Hot topic: Series production of continuous fiber-reinforced thermoplastic components was well attended by students, research assistants and professors and provided space for a lively discussion.

Lively response to lecture on testing fiber-reinforced plastics

Dr.-Ing. Fabian Grasse, Managing Director of Grasse Zur Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH in Berlin, gave a presentation on the topic of testing fiber-reinforced plastics under mechanical stress at the IKD colloquium on 29.11.2018. This was attended with interest by students as well as research assistants and professors and was the subject of lively discussion afterwards.
