IKD member Prof. Dr.-Ing. Roger Weinlein involved as co-author of specialist book "Handbuch Konstruktion" (Design Manual)

The 2nd edition of the reference book "Handbuch Konstruktion" was published by Hanser Verlag on June 1, 2018.

This is an indispensable reference work with valuable empirical knowledge for designers and product developers.

The handbook supports designers in the numerous decisions that arise during product development. In five parts, all the important topics for successful conception, design and development are covered:

  • Part I: Fundamentals
  • Part II: Development and design
  • Part III: Processes and methods
  • Part IV: Use of computers
  • Part V: Production and management

Frank Rieg (Chair of Design Engineering and CAD, University of Bayreuth) and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Rolf Steinhilper (Chair of Environmentally Compatible Production Technology, University of Bayreuth and Head of the Fraunhofer Project Group Process Innovation) were supported by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Roger Weinlein from Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences, among others. Together with Elmar Moritzer, he wrote the basic chapter "Plastics-compatible design".

Prof. Roger Weinlein is head of the Institute for Plastics Technology at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences and is involved in teaching and research in the areas of designing with plastics, rapid prototyping, processing and heat transfer.
