Transportation

Emphasis is placed on the environmentally compatible design of traffic routes and traffic flow. A particular concern is the linking of the various modes of transport. Insights are given into technical possibilities for the flexible utilization of available traffic route areas.

Special attention is also paid to increasing road safety. This includes training in safety inspections of traffic infrastructure and the safe operation of traffic facilities.

For the operation and maintenance of traffic infrastructure, the basics of setting up and using road information databases and traffic control centers are taught.

New procedures in the construction and maintenance of traffic routes are constantly being tested in laboratories and further developed for practical application.

Intensive communication with practice is sought in all courses. The complex interrelationships in planning and execution are demonstrated and developed on specific projects, sometimes across universities. Numerous excursions round off the practical impressions.

The structure of the main study program for the current examination regulations is shown.

Compulsory elective modules must be offered to such an extent that there is sufficient choice in terms of number and content; however, the faculties are not obliged to regularly provide the entire range contained in the catalogs. The faculty council can adapt the catalogs of compulsory electives if necessary; a module description must be prepared for newly offered compulsory elective modules or sub-modules. The Examination Board may also recognize additional modules as compulsory elective modules or sub-modules on request in individual cases. Individual courses from the catalogs may be offered in English. This will be announced at the beginning of each semester.
