First semester students or transfer students:
The university portal my.h-da provides you with important functions for students, including changing your contact details and, as a rule, the course catalog.
You will need to activate your account before logging in for the first time.
Set up your e-mail address: You will automatically receive an h_da e-mail address that is valid for the duration of your studies. Check your mailbox regularly to receive all important information from your department or the central service offices. Follow the instructions of the IT services if you want to set up an app to check your emails.
We will communicate information on the implementation of the courses as well as logins to the Moodle courses or logins to online courses via the Moodle course "Events at FB BU in WiSe 2024/2025" at the latest one week before the start of the semester
The registration for a module is independent of the examination! With the current registration at my.h-da you "only" register that you would like to reserve a place in the module (lecture, seminar...).
Registration for examinations will take place during the semester. For semester-accompanying examinations, e.g. projects, the examination is deemed to have been taken when the assignment is issued in accordance with § 16 (1) ABPO. For these modules, students will in future register for examinations earlier than for modules with written examinations at the end of the semester.
General instructions for the my.h-da - My University Portal - system can be found at
https://my.h-da.de/qisserver/pages/cs/sys/portal/hisinoneStartPage.faces
You will receive information on the examination prerequisites from the lecturers in the respective courses. It is necessary to register for the examination at my.h-da.de under "Prüfungsanmeldung" for the respective PVL so that we can confirm your participation (mEt) or, in the case of graded PVL, record the performance. The respective registration periods will be communicated to you by the examination board or directly by the lecturers in the courses or by e-mail or the announcements in the Moodle course.
For first semester students on the Bachelor's degree course in Civil Engineering, 3 courses "G1a", "G1b" and "G1c" are offered.
For students in the 3rd semester, 2 courses "G3a", "G3b" are offered.
For the civil engineering course from the 5th semester onwards, binding registration for the individual courses is required. This registration allows us to optimize the workload and make better use of the available resources.
Registration takes place via my.h-da.de. The registration period runs from Monday, 23.09. up to and including Sunday, 06.10.2024.
Please note: For students in the 1st semester, the registration period does not begin until 01.10.2024.
Information on examination matters can be found at fbbu.h-da.de/service/pruefungsangelegenheiten/infos-zum-bauingenieur.
The examination regulations allow Master's students to take Bachelor's modules (up to 10 CP in the transition semester). Modules that you have already taken in the Bachelor's degree program cannot be taken again. Please note: For courses requiring attendance: The HIS-QIS system only recognizes two options: either you are "admitted" or on the "waiting list". Important: when registering for the compulsory elective modules, all students are initially placed on the waiting list, i.e. there are initially no available places and admission or allocation of places is then carried out by the lecturers. To take and pass the examinations for compulsory elective modules, please note the necessary prerequisites according to § 11 (5) BBPO and the information on required knowledge in the module handbook.
Binding registration for the individual courses is required for the Master's degree program.
Registration takes place via my.h-da.de. The registration period runs from Monday, 23.09. up to and including Sunday, 06.10.2024.
Important: When registering for the Master's modules, all students are initially placed on the waiting list, i.e. there are initially no available places. The lecturers will then select students according to transparent and comprehensible criteria (e.g. specialization, number of semesters, letter of motivation, etc.). To register for A and/or B modules from the Master's degree program in Environmental Engineering, an application must be submitted to the Examination Board (PAUS) via the head of degree program before registering for the modules (see forms at https://fbbu.h-da.de/service/pruefungsangelegenheiten).
Activation of Master's modules (B modules) for Bachelor's students
The examination regulations also allow Bachelor's students to take B modules of max. 10 ECTS from the Master's program if they can provide proof of the required knowledge. When admitting students to courses, lecturers are required to give priority to Master's students. Important: A modules are excluded from this! A modules are reserved exclusively for Master's students! As the Master's program as a whole is quite extensive, you may still be able to take courses as a Bachelor's student - it is of course also possible that your "desired course" is fully booked.
5. bachelor modules in environmental engineering
In the 3rd semester (BBPO 2020), binding registration for module 201850 CAD/GIS is required. In the 5th semester (BBPO 2020) there is an elective area (catalog UIB). Binding registration for the courses is required for this elective area (compulsory attendance).
Important: When registering for the compulsory elective modules, all students are initially placed on the waiting list, i.e. there are initially no available places and admission or allocation of places is then made by the lecturers.
The completion of examinations is subject to certain requirements (see § 11 (6) BBPO 2020): "Only those who meet all of the following requirements will be admitted to examinations in compulsory elective modules of the UIB catalog, which are scheduled from the 4th semester onwards according to the standard study program (Annex 1):
- The modules Mathematics 1, Mathematics 2, Biology and Chemistry, Physics and Process Engineering Fundamentals, Hydromechanics and Environmental Process Engineering have been passed.
- At least 60 CP from semesters one to three inclusive of the standard study program have been achieved.
Please note that you should only take WP modules if you fulfill the requirements. If you do not meet the requirements, you cannot register for the examination!
You can register via my.h-da.de. The registration period runs from Monday, 23.09. up to and including Sunday, 06.10.2024.
Registration is also required for preliminary examinations (e.g. hydromechanics) - please refer to the notes in the course.
Examinations from BBPO 2013 are still offered up to and including SoSe 2026 in accordance with the transitional provisions.
In the case of modules whose examinations are taken during the semester, e.g. projects, these courses will also be offered up to and including SoSe 2026.
The BBPO does not allow Bachelor's students to take modules on the Master's degree program in Environmental Engineering.
Information on examination matters can be found at fbbu.h-da.de/service/pruefungsangelegenheiten/infos-zum-umweltingenieur.
For the Master's program, a binding registration for the individual courses is required.
Registration takes place via my.h-da.de. The registration period runs from Monday, 23.09. up to and including Sunday, 06.10.2023.
Important: When registering for the Master's modules, all students are initially placed on the waiting list, i.e. there are initially no available places. The lecturers will then select students according to transparent and comprehensible criteria (e.g. "first come, first served", specialization, number of semesters, letter of motivation, etc.).
To take A and/or B modules from the Master's degree program in Civil Engineering, an application must be submitted to the PAUS before taking the modules.
The h_da offers pre-courses in math and physics. These usually start in the weeks before lectures begin in the winter semester and are self-study courses. Please decide for yourself whether you need to repeat the course. The courses are recommended for all those who have chosen courses with math and/or physics components.
Further information can be found at h-da.de/mathefit/mathe-vorkurs or fbmn.h-da.de/physik-vorkurs.
- Mathematics preliminary course from 23.09. to 27.09.2024
- Physics pre-course from 30.09. to 04.10.2024
You do not need to set an alarm clock for 11.58 p.m. - registration starts at 8.00 a.m. In this context, we would like to ask you to only register for courses that you actually want to attend. This is a matter of fairness towards your fellow students.
If you have any difficulties or problems, please only contact studienausschuss.fbb@h-da.de by email. The lecturers are instructed not to respond to your e-mails. Questions that have already been answered in this document will not be answered!

What hardware and software does the department recommend?
For many modules, we recommend having a (preferably mobile) computer with the standard Office applications. At home, you should have a stable internet connection, headset (or microphone/speaker) and webcam, as some courses and office hours are still offered online and most learning materials are provided via online platforms (especially Moodle).
In the courses of the coming years, you will not only work with Office software, but possibly also with CAD, GIS and other special software. The software can be used on the department's computers. If you also want to use these programs at home, we recommend a PC/laptop with the latest version of Windows 10 (64 bit) (see the links below for the hardware and software requirements for ArcGIS and AutoCAD). If you prefer a laptop, we recommend a device to which an additional monitor can be connected, with at least Full HD (1920 x 1080).
In addition to the operating system, as mentioned above, Office software is also required. We recommend Microsoft Office, as most of the format templates in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering are created with this Office package. As a student at h_da, you can download a free version of the Office package at https://www.microsoft.com/de-de/education/students or use it online. You must enter your h_da e-mail address for identification purposes. Public domain Office products (e.g. Open Office or Libre Office) are also possible in principle, but there are always problems with the format templates when using them.
The latest versions of Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD are used in the lecture; the same applies to ArcGis. The following links show you the specifications you should pay attention to when buying a new computer / laptop or upgrading your existing computer. On the pages with the system requirements for ArcGIS you can also check whether your PC/laptop meets the requirements:
